Western North Carolina Mountains, Places To Go In The Fall Of 2009
The mountains of Western North Carolina is a great place to visit any time of the year, although the fall is when this beautiful location becomes especially popular as the weather cools and the colors of leaves change. The most beautiful highway in the United States, Blue Ridge Parkway, is always a recommended destination to visit especially in the fall . Some of the favorite locations to see along this highway are Grandfather Mountain, The Great Smoky Mountains, Chimney Rock near Asheville, and Pisgah Inn located at 5000 feet offering food, overnight stay, and gifts.
Asheville NC remains a popular destination to visit in the fall along with a stop at the Biltmore Estates. Maggie Valley known for its great mountain lodging will have fall items displayed in the gifts shops. Maggie will have a Labor Day weekend Craft Show September 5th and 6th, Fall Arts and Crafts Festival is October 17th and 18th, and the WNC Barbecue Festival is in Maggie September 25th and 26th. Waynesville has the Apple Harvest Festival October 7th and Church Street Arts and Crafts on October 10th.
North Carolina Apple Festival will be in Hendersonville September 4th through September 7th. The Hickory Octoberfest is October 9th to 11th. Lexington NC with its Barbecue Festival on October 24 is one of the largest one day festivals in North Carolina.
