Haywood County, Western North Carolina, Homes Sales Increase In May

Home sales reported to Western North Carolina regional MLS was 343 for the month of May which is an increase from 311 homes sold for the previous month during April. Haywood County had the largest percent increase (in Western North Carolina) over the previous month with sales of 45 homes versus 25 homes sold in the month of April. The 45 homes sold in May represented the best sales month of the year for Haywood County. Pending homes sales reported to the regional MLS for the first 10 days of June reflect 117 homes in Western North Carolina and 17 homes for Haywood County. June sales trend appears to be on track to improve upon the May results.

The trend in Haywood continues to reflect the sales of the first time home buyer with 34 of the 45 properties sold  selling for less than $250,000. There have been only four Haywood County properties sold in 2009 that were priced over $500,000 and only one home has sold that was listed for more than a $1,000,000.
